In Honor

Crystopher Izazel Duffee
3/15/2011

Conceived in joy, Named in honor, Passed in silence. We will never know what you would have become, but your impact will change us forever.

Details: went to the doctor Monday morning. No heartbeat. Went to the hospital. Delivered still at 1:54 this morning. Will be at hospital until tomorrow morning for observation due to diabetes. No services planned at this time. Oklahoma mandates a stillborn certificate at 20 weeks so we named him what was in my head for a few months now. For those that don't know, named in honor for Cryss Blackwolf and Izazel Von Izykowski. Two men that helped bring me back to "normal" and have been brothers through the years.

For Everything there is a Season

To Everything (Turn, Turn, Turn)
There is a season (Turn, Turn, Turn)
And a time to every purpose, under Heaven

A time to be born, a time to die
A time to plant, a time to reap
A time to kill, a time to heal
A time to laugh, a time to weep

To Everything (Turn, Turn, Turn)
There is a season (Turn, Turn, Turn)
And a time to every purpose, under Heaven

A time to build up,a time to break down
A time to dance, a time to mourn
A time to cast away stones, a time to gather stones together

To Everything (Turn, Turn, Turn)
There is a season (Turn, Turn, Turn)
And a time to every purpose, under Heaven

A time of love, a time of hate
A time of war, a time of peace
A time you may embrace, a time to refrain from embracing

To Everything (Turn, Turn, Turn)
There is a season (Turn, Turn, Turn)
And a time to every purpose, under Heaven

A time to gain, a time to lose
A time to rend, a time to sew
A time for love, a time for hate
A time for peace, I swear it's not too late

The song is by the Byrds, of course. But it's also from the Bible. There is truth in everything, you just have to not close your mind to it. Even in our enemies, there are lessons.

Being able to roll with the punches that life delivers does not detract from allowing you to make the most out of yourself. Perhaps it means that you need to focus on an aspect of yourself that you were not yet ready to deal with or that you weren't aware needed to be worked on.

There is always a chance to make a second impression, even within yourself.

Computer Golden Rules

#1 reboot it
#2 unplug it
#3 Whatever it was, yes you DID do it, admit to it and tell your technician what you did so they can fix it faster.
#4 If the computer is older than your car, replace it.

That's about as simple as I can make life for a computer user.

(Or, as my tech would add #5 Buy a Mac)

The "Bus"

I'm at a loss to find this bus everyone keeps saying they get thrown under.

It's like the concept of accountability went out the window and now everyone is able to dismiss their actions and responsibilities by saying that someone "threw them under the bus" and thus redirect the blame for the while situation to the accuser.

If we don't raise our children to be accountable for their actions, well, we get the society we have today, but worse.

"Great companies have high cultures of accountability, it comes with this culture of criticism I was talking about before, and I think our culture is strong on that. "
Steve Ballmer

Thanks for those words, Steve. Who's accountable for Windows ME and Vista? *crickets* (Guess with that many billions of dollars, the business strategy cna't be all wrong.) Ok, on with the discussion.

Michael Jackson had his issues over the years, but his early (well, middle) career in the 80's was beyond anyone's expectations. He had a number of excellent songs back then and one that has always stood out to me is "Man in the Mirror."

So many people expect everyone else to solve all their problems and become different people. Everyone else needs to "get a life" or "be happier for someone." Can't get a job? Perhaps there is a reason, personality, appearance, hygeine? Fix it. You're the only one that can.

I'm starting with the man in the mirror
I'm asking him to change his ways
And no message could have been any clearer
If you wanna make the world a better place
Take a look at yourself, and then make a change

When it comes down to it, if you're the one that's often wearing the tire treads. Perhaps you need to stop whining about being thrown under the bus and fix the real problem.

Everything that has an end has a beginning...

This morning while I was preparing for work, I was thinking about a speech I gave yesterday for a group of business owners. I realized I really enjoyed giving the presentation, even though the amount of time I had was short. I got a few laughs, was able to drive a few points home, and hopefully allowed them to think about their I.T. issues a little more seriously than they had before.

Whether or not they call us is a bit relevant, but the message is most important.

I recalled the days when I was teaching classes and relating to professionals and realized that I missed those days.

The thought struck me to start a blog about what I know. The name came to me, and even though there is another blog on blogspot with a similar name, the person made one post in 2008 and never touched it again, so I don't believe they have anything to gripe about when it comes to copywrite or name infringement.

So I will begin this blog about technical issues and personal development issues. It will contain common computer and other equipment fixes and tricks that I run across (nothing that would take money away from the company I work for, of course, I still have to make a living) and also personal development thoughts, mantras, quotes, etc.

I hope you find it entertaining and insightful.
